    Food Intolerance & Allergy Testing

    IgG Food Sensitivity Testing

    What is a Food Intolerance?

A food intolerance can occur when your body has difficulty digesting certain foods. When this occurs over time, large food particles (proteins) may enter the bloodstream.

When food particles enter the bloodstream, the immune system can sometimes identify these food protein particles as “foreign” and produces IgG antibodies to “attack” the food in question. This response is your immune system’s natural defence mechanism to ward off harmful invaders in the body which can create inflammation.

This inflammation could trigger bothersome symptoms, which may persist or develop in the body if they are neglected. Unlike with food allergies, these symptoms are not potentially life threatening but they can have a very negative impact on the quality of the sufferer’s life.

What are the symptoms of a Food Intolerance?

Common symptoms and conditions related to a food intolerance include IBS, migraines, digestive problems, skin issues, fatigue, and weight gain.

Many symptoms have been linked to food intolerance including:

    • Abdominal Pain
    • Fatigue
    • Aches and Pains
    • Fluid Retention
    • Itching
    • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
    • Constipation
    • Headaches
    • Diarrhoea
    • Migraine
    • Eczema
    • Nausea
    • Rhinitis
    • Weight gain
    • Sinusitis
    • Rashes
    • Tiredness

Many people’s experience with food intolerance may be less specific, and they can’t really pin point which foods are causing reactions. This is because food intolerance can be hard to define, as they can present up to 48 hours after ingestion of the trigger food.

Some may decided to take this detective work into their own hands through an elimination diet, however this can be a lengthy process and may not provide you with the answers you need. Unguided, you may inadvertently eliminate essential vitamins and minerals from your diet.
